The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Programme-related support
  • Volunteer-related support
  • Administrative and logistical support

Programme-related support

  • Provide the required support, where appropriate, to his/her supervisor in managing and monitoring UNV projects under the supervisor’s responsibility.
  • Support the supervisor in volunteerism related activities, including International Volunteer Day (IVD) events.
  • Supporting update of website and social media of UNV Bangladesh.
Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or any other relevant fieldOnly those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible. (Letter of enrollment from school will be requested from the selected applicants).
  • Eagerness to learn about UNV practice areas and their application on national, regional and international level.
  • Knowledge of the development context in Bangladesh is an asset.
  • Advanced communications skills in English and Bangla.
  • Very high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Good planning skills demonstrated through good time management, capacity to plan, and deliver tasks on time.
  • Willingness to participate in all aspects of UNV programme activities.
  • Understanding of administration and/or programme support services.
  • Experience using computers and office software packages (ERP, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience in handling of web-based management systems is highly desirable.
